Fees and Funding

Rachel McGregor Psychologist provides psychology, counselling, behaviour consultation and coaching services for clients in Melbourne, Frankston and via secure telehealth. Sessions can be accessed privately or, where eligible, through Medicare, NDIS funding, WorkSafe Victoria or other referral pathways.

This page explains the current session fees, available rebates and funding options, and what you may need before your first appointment.

Session Fees

Fees are payable at the time of consultation unless a third-party funding arrangement has been confirmed before the appointment.

Service Fee Notes
Standard psychology consultation with Rachel McGregor $250 Available for eligible clients privately, through Medicare referral pathways, NDIS funding or approved third-party funding.
Standard psychology consultation with Aleksandra Kajpust $240 Available in person or online. Please contact the practice to confirm availability and funding suitability.

Reduced rates for Medicare sessions may be available on request for concessions, sole parent families or clients experiencing reduced income. Please contact the practice to discuss your circumstances before booking.

Medicare Rebates

Medicare rebates are available for eligible clients under the Australian Government’s Better Access initiative. To access Medicare rebates, you will usually need a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.

Under this scheme, eligible clients can access Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year. Your GP will usually provide an initial referral and may review your progress before further sessions are approved.

Current Medicare rebate information

  • The current Medicare rebate for a standard 50+ minute consultation with a registered psychologist is approximately $101.55.
  • For a $250 session, the approximate out-of-pocket cost after the Medicare rebate is $101.55
  • For a $240 session, the approximate out-of-pocket cost after the Medicare rebate is $101.55

Medicare rebates can only be claimed where you have a valid referral and meet the Medicare eligibility requirements. Please speak with your GP to determine whether a Mental Health Treatment Plan is appropriate for you.

What to provide before your appointment

  • Your Mental Health Treatment Plan or relevant GP referral letter.
  • Your Medicare card details.
  • Any relevant background information that may help your psychologist understand your needs and goals.

NDIS Funding

NDIS funding may be used for psychology or behaviour consultation services where the support is considered reasonable, necessary and aligned with your NDIS goals.

The practice provides support for neurodivergent clients, families and young people, including practical skill-building, emotional regulation, parent consultation, functional behaviour support and capacity-building strategies.

NDIS funding may be suitable for

  • Parent consultation and coaching.
  • Support for autistic clients, ADHD and other neurodivergent presentations.
  • Functional behaviour assessment and behaviour support planning.
  • Emotional regulation and coping skills.
  • Communication, independence and daily living skill development.
  • Capacity-building supports linked to your NDIS plan goals.

NDIS billing

NDIS services are billed in line with the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits where applicable. Please contact the practice before booking if you intend to use NDIS funding, so that your funding type, service goals and invoicing requirements can be confirmed.

The practice can support clients using self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funding where the services are appropriate for the participant’s plan and goals.

WorkSafe Victoria Funding

Rachel McGregor is a registered WorkSafe provider and can accept referrals for psychological treatment through WorkSafe Victoria where the service has been approved as part of a workplace injury claim.

WorkSafe funding may be relevant where a client is seeking psychological support for a work-related injury, workplace stress injury or other accepted WorkSafe claim.

What is usually required

  • An accepted WorkSafe claim or confirmation that treatment can commence under the relevant WorkSafe pathway.
  • A referral from your GP or treating medical practitioner.
  • Claim details, insurer/agent information and any approval documentation.

WorkSafe may require treatment plans, progress updates or other reporting as part of the approval and ongoing funding process.

Private Clients

You do not need a GP referral to attend as a private client. Private sessions may be suitable if you do not have a Mental Health Treatment Plan, prefer not to use Medicare, are seeking support beyond Medicare session limits, or are accessing services for coaching, personal development or workplace-related goals.

Private health insurance rebates may be available depending on your level of cover. Please check directly with your private health insurer before your appointment.

Chronic Disease Management Plans

Some clients may be referred by their GP under a Chronic Disease Management Plan where psychological support forms part of a broader health care plan. Please speak with your GP to determine whether this referral pathway is suitable for your circumstances.

Referrals

Clients may be referred in several ways, including through:

  • A Mental Health Treatment Plan from a GP.
  • A referral from a psychiatrist or paediatrician.
  • A Chronic Disease Management Plan.
  • WorkSafe Victoria.
  • NDIS self-managed or plan-managed funding.
  • Private self-referral.

If you are a new client, you will be asked to provide information about your reasons for referral and complete an online intake form before your first appointment. You can also forward your Mental Health Treatment Plan or relevant referral to admin@rachelmcgregor.com

Booking and Appointment Confirmation

Bookings can be made online for Collins Street, RedHouse Paediatrics or telehealth appointments. All appointments are considered pending until reviewed and confirmed by the practice.

Once your appointment is confirmed, you will receive an email confirmation. SMS reminders may also be sent before your appointment. Telehealth appointments are provided through a secure Halaxy platform, and a link will be sent before your session.
